A Tribute to Cannonball Adderley

presented by

The Rich Chiaraluce Quintet

Sunday, June 16, 2013 3:00-6:00pm

OLYMPUS DIGITAL CAMERAA giant of the alto saxophone who emerged during the bop era, Cannonball Adderley had one of the hardest swinging, distinctive voices in jazz.

One of the great alto saxophonists, Cannonball Adderley had an exuberant and happy sound that communicated immediately to listeners. His swinging, intelligent presentation of his music (often explaining what he and his musicians were going to play) helped make him one of the most popular of all jazzmen. Paying tribute will be an outstanding group led by Denver saxophonist Rich Chiaraluce with Gabe Mervine on trumpet, Dave Hanson on piano, Ken Walker on bass and Todd Reid on drums. As always, the music will be accompanied by fabulous culinary fare, at an intimate, easy-to-find spot.
